Almost six months after the resignation of Carlos Tavare, Stellantis found a new driver. The group announced on Wednesday the appointment of Antonio Filosa as general director, “at the end of an in -depth investigation process of internal and external candidates, led by a special committee of the Board of Directors led by its executive president, John Elkann.”
This acquisition has been expected for a while. Because Antonio Filosa seems to verify all the boxes. 51 years old, this Italian of Naples was already director of Stellantis for the American continent since 2024 and director of all US brands (Chrysler, Dodge, RAM). He was also entrusted, in February, the responsibility of a new global quality address. The manager speaks English and Portuguese and has multiplied visits to concessions and factories in the United States to improve relations between the group and the country.
Previously, the new general director of Stellantis spent 20 years in Fiat, where he entered in 1999. He was remarkably factory director in Betim (Brazil) and purchase manager of Latin America. He was also responsible for the Argentine and Alfa Romeo and Maserati brands for the Latin America region, in the late 2010 decade.
There, Antonio Filosa’s mission was to straighten the margins of Fiat, especially in Brazil, under the era of his emblematic chief, Sergio Marchionne, of which he was very close.
Entrance to the office on June 23
Under his leadership, “the Fiat brand has become the leader of the South American market, and the Peugeot, Citroën, Ram and Jeep brands have developed considerably,” which allows the group to “strengthen their leadership in the region,” Stellantis also said in a press release.
In the next few days an extraordinary general meeting will be convened in the next few days to choose Antonio Filosa to the Board of Directors as the company’s executive administrator, “said the company.
“Meanwhile, to give full powers and guarantee an effective transition, the Board of Directors gave him the powers of the CEO, as of June 23,” added the group.
