Suez finally has a boss. According to several sources close to the company, its shareholders have chosen Xavier Girre to become the future managing director. On Wednesday a Board of Directors was held, during which Meridiam and the US funds and the American GIP, as well as the Caisse des Dépôts decided in favor of the current director of EDF.
The announcement should take place next week. It remains to be seen if Xavier Girre will be managing or CEO of Suez, a point that shareholders still did not seem to have decided. But the head of Meridiam, Thierry Déau, should maintain the presidency he has held since the beginning of the year after the departure of the former CEO, Sabrina Soussan.
Stéphane Richard’s candidacy dismissed
Xavier Girre’s candidacy opposed Yann Leriche, Getlink’s managing director. In recent days, that of Stéphane Richard had been fired, the former CEO of Orange pretending a CEO position.
Xavier Girre, 56, has been EDF financial director for 2016. In recent weeks, his name has circulated as the probable leaders at EDF’s departure after the appointment of the new CEO, Bernard Fontana.
