It is a longer than expected trip … that ended by bus. The passengers of the American Airlines AA780 flight took off well on June 2 from Philadelphia in the United States, but landed in Rome instead of Naples, because their plane was too heavy, reports USA Today.
The passengers embarked aboard a Dreamliner 787-9 in Boeing, while the flight is usually made by a 787-8, indicates the US media. Due to “operational limitations”, the plane could not land in Naples.
According to Flightradar data, this flight is generally operated by a 787-8. This model can accommodate up to 234 passengers, against 285 for 787-9, specify the American airlines.
Security standards to be respected
USA Today indicates that the theft could have been diverted due to the required standards in terms of air security and fire -related risks: the rules of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in fact classify the airports in accordance with the RFF (requirements for rescue and fight against fighting services).
According to a Boeing document, the installation of a 787-8 can be done at RFFS 8, RFFS 9 classified airports for 787-9. Naples airport is classified RFFS 8, which allows the landing of a 787-8, but not a heavier 787-9.
