If the social partners “consider that it is no longer their time”, “we will decide,” said François Bayrou, this Friday, June 27, visiting Briançon. “We have shown that social democracy could clear the way. At the end of the road, the government will make its decision,” added the prime minister, indicating that Parliament would vote on this text during the Social Security Financing Law (PLFSS) 2026.
“I have no doubt that millions of women know that for them, it is of great importance. Millions of employees who work in a close situation know that it will bring something,” said François Bayrou.
Early in the day, the CFDT, the first French union, rejected the invitation made by the government to the social partner to resume discussions, until mid -July, for an agreement on pensions, with the hope of taking advantage of it during the budget debate in the fall.
She said that the two final lock points observed by François Bayrou to reach an agreement with employers, on the arduity and general financing of the system, were “two extremely important and structuring elements of the discussions.”
The CFDT is one of the three unions, with the CFTC and the CFE -CGC, which has discussed until the end of the conclave launched by the Prime Minister to amend the impopular reform of 2023. Negotiations, which would originally end at the end of May, ended Monday in an observation of disagreement with the employer (Medef, CPME).
But the government invited them to continue arguing, fixing the new horizon to “mid -July” to arrive.
