New type of mobilization in Société Générale. The unions organized on Thursday, July 3, an unprecedented operation entitled “All on the site.” All employees were asked to go to the facilities at the same time, a demonstration that would be supposed to demonstrate to the administration the disaster that would cause a massive return of employees to the office.
This action occurs a few days after management announced a reduction in teleworking one day a week, against two currently for most employees (and three for some). Inside, the unions denounce in a joint press release (CFDT, CFTC, CGT) a “brutal announcement (…) without the slightest previous discussion, without consultation with the personnel representatives.”
On Thursday morning, the employees were named at 8:45 am “we wanted to show that it was impossible for us to all be in the place and showed it well,” said Adeline Foucher, Mission Manager of Société Générale, with BFM Business.
There is no implementation before September 2026
According to the CFDT, management even had the impact of this media operation. “Very reliable internal sources have told us that management has asked external suppliers to work remotely today to mitigate our action,” said Nabil Bouhachi, representative of CFDT Ile-de-France / Nord Union.
Société Générale employees received an email on Thursday, June 19 from their Slawomir Kruup general director announcing a reduction in the amount of remote work days. But the measure will not immediately enter into force.
In fact, management will have to denounce the company’s agreement on teleworking. In this case, a 15 -month period provided by law. What leaves the company time to anticipate the terms of return to the employee office, especially in terms of the capacity of buildings. But for employees, the problem is much deeper.
“A very high workload”
Even if it is not a 100% face to face, many employees organized their personal life taking into account these two days of weekly teleworking. Some have made the decision to live more, others have chosen their child care system, teleworking has also been able to weigh the professional career of its spouse … The implications are multiple and deeply intimate.
In addition, according to the unions, Management has presented teleworking as a compensation measure in exchange for additional efforts requested from employees. “Many colleagues exceed a very high workload, or sometimes they have accepted internal binding mobility by integrating into their lives, balanced the two or three days of teleworking until then,” they wrote in their press release.
“What should I do apart from giving up?”
They also denounce a decision in contradiction with “the speeches held for several years” that actively promoted teleworking as an attractive lever, loyalty and well -being at work. “
On the side of the company, the will displayed seems to recreate the link, creativity and coordination between employees and between teams. But for unions, the decision “comes in a context in which the social barometer is at the bottom and shares a little more confidence, with fragile employees, towards their employer.”
“I moved away from Paris in 2020. Arriving for 4 days, it will be too exhausting long -term (2 hours from door to march),” said an employee.
“How not to ask the real purpose of this measure?” Ask the unions, who fear that this will be an operation aimed at reducing the workforce at a lower cost. Contacted, I Société Générale did not want to react.
