The situation improves in the transport front, after the great fire in Marseille.
“It is possible to operate the high speed line between Marseille and Aix TGV. High speed traffic will normally resume on Wednesday 9 in the morning,” said the SNCF on Wednesday.
“In a classic line, the circulation remains interrupted between Marseille and Miramas at the end of checks and rehabilitation on Wednesday morning. The time of recovery is currently estimated at noon,” continues the railway company.
While the fire approached Marseille dangerously on Tuesday, the SNCF had decided at the end of the afternoon to interrupt the traffic of the trains at the beginning and arrival of Marseille, for an indefinite period. Enough to cause an important disaster in Marseille but also in Lyon.
Partial recovery of air traffic
At Marseille-Provence airport, traffic was also suspended on Tuesday afternoon due to the fire, but partially resumed at dusk around 9:30 pm
This “partial recovery” made it possible “to go and reach the planes scheduled for the end of the night, as well as some flights for regulatory purposes,” the communication service of the fourth airport in France in Marignane told AFP.
The airport had been closed on Tuesday at noon, to “let water bombers and helicopters work, the fire on the axis of the track,” said a spokesman. Since then, 54 flights have been canceled and 14 deviated flights.
“For Wednesday, the situation will be revalued according to the evolution of the fire.”
“We invite travelers to consult the updated list in real time of flights to the beginning and flights upon arrival, and approach their airline for more information,” you can read on the airport website.
“Travelers are asked to have a reservation on a canceled flight that do not go to the airport and approach their airline to discover the conditions that are applied.”
