Heathrow, the first European airport, wants to invest 11.6 billion euros in five years, its main shareholder (which is French) increases its participation

London-Heathrow Airport has exhibited its investment plan over the next five years, with the aim of modernizing the infrastructure and welcoming more passengers.

More media, more passengers, in a modernized airport. The London Airport in London, London, the first in Europe in number of passengers, presented an investment plan of 10 billion pounds on Friday (11.6 billion euros) by 2031 to modernize its facilities and increase the number of passengers, but it still has to convince the authorities.

The plan, which must be validated by the British Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), “will improve the level of service, will increase reliability” and “create new fairs, stores and restaurants,” says Heathrow in a press release. It is added to 2.3 billion pounds (2.7 billion euros) of investments announced last year.

Shareholders intend to inject 2 billion pounds (2.3 billion euros), but the rest must be financed by a substantial increase in a tariff invoiced to carriers (which generally affects the price of tickets).

Therefore, Heathrow will have to obtain the Green Light from the CAA, which in recent years imposed price drop on the platform in recent years, and will have to convince the airlines of the air against the rates considered excessive of the airport.

French, Qatar and Saudi capital

The main shareholder of Heathrow Airport Holdings is the French Ardiano, which announced on Friday in a separate statement that concluded the increase in its participation to 32.6%: previously 22.6% of the capital had, but had launched an agreement in February to acquire 10% more.

It is followed by the Qatar Investment Authority (20%) and the Saudi Pif Pif (15%).

The center of London expects his plan to allow him to increase the number of passengers for his terminals by 10 million per year, an increase of 12%.

The airport opened in 1946 also obtained in January the green light of the British government for the construction of a third track, after years of appeal presented by the residents.

This should be completed by 2035, according to current projections, but their financing, which could total tens of billions of pounds, have not yet been completed.
