China asks for “fair dialogue” about customs tasks with the United States

China asks for a resolution of commercial disputes for a “fair dialogue”, with the United States, while the two countries must negotiate again in the next few days.

China increases the tone against the United States, while the negotiators of the two countries must meet next week in Stockholm to discuss their commercial relations.

Beijing wants to “strengthen consensus” with Washington and ask for a resolution of commercial disputes for a “fair dialogue”, after the announcement of a commercial agreement between Tokyo and Washington.

“All parties must solve economic and commercial problems through a fair dialogue and, by consultation, to preserve a mutually beneficial economic cooperation environment,” said Guo Jiakun, spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a regular press point.

The latter added that the withdrawal of the United States of UNESCO was not the behavior of a “responsible country.”

Tense negotiations

The United States and China have experienced two negotiation cycles in recent months, to reduce commercial tensions between the two countries, especially after the sudden increase in customs rates on both sides, after the announcement of the so -called “reciprocal” customs tasks in early April by Donald Trump.

The managers of the first two world economic powers met for the first time in Geneva and then in London, with the effect of bringing customs tasks to 10% in US products and 30% in Chinese products, as well as restricting certain limitations to exports on both sides.

“I think that trade with China is fine, we will discuss many other things in which our countries can work together and I hope to see the Chinese make at least one gesture with respect to their industrial overcapacity,” he added.

During another interview granted in CNBC on Monday, Mr. Besent emphasized that Russian Chinese and Iranian oil imports, both under sanctions, should also be part of the subjects discussed.

China is, with India, one of the main clients of Russian oil, which has been sanctioned since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine by Moscow in February 2022.
