Donald Trump said, on Friday, July 25, that the probability that the United States concludes a commercial agreement with the European Union was “50-50”, while the deadline of August 1 is approaching and the threat of customs tariffs of the United States of 30% in European imports.
“I would say that we are likely to be 50-50 unless the possibilities of 50-50 to conclude an agreement with the EU,” the US president told reporters when he left Washington for a trip to Scotland.
The European Union ready to retaliate
If no agreement is concluded, the European Union has already provided its response. European diplomats agreed to apply reprisals to 93 million euros in American products if the United States decides to apply 30% customs duties in European products as of August 1.
