“Mass should not be said” regarding the commercial agreement announced on Sunday between the European Union and the United States, Foreign Minister Laurent Saint-Martin said on Monday, asking for a “rebalancing” especially in services.
“I do not want us to stop in what happened yesterday (Sunday). Actually, I would assume that Europe is not an economic power. And above all, there is a political problem behind,” he said.
“Is European construction, is the European Union a force? If we want the answer to be, then the Mass should not be said yesterday (Sunday),” said the minister, interrogated France Inter, judging the “unbalanced” agreement.
15% customs duties
The agreement concluded on Sunday between the European Union and Washington states that European products exported to the United States will receive a tax of up to 15%, half of the rate Donald Trump had shown the threat. The EU has also been involved at $ 750 billion in energy purchases and 600 billion additional investments in the United States, said the president of the United States.
The United States and the EU will also eliminate their customs duties for certain “strategic products”, including aeronautical equipment, “certain chemical products”, as well as “certain agricultural products and critical raw materials,” said the president of the European Commission, without more immediate details.
