The total power of the EPR of Flamanville is not planned before the end of the autumn announced EDF this Friday, August 1, while the energetic planned total power by the end of summer.
The extension of a sentence “to carry out a preventive control and maintenance operation in a protective valve of the main main circuit” leads to modify “the date of reaching the full power, now scheduled before the end of the fall,” said the electrician group.
The EPR had been arrested on June 19 as part of the reactor implementation tests.
Its Nuclear EPR revival reactor of Flamanville (Mancha), initially scheduled for early July, had postponed two months on July 2 to verify the voltage of the main main circuit valves. A leak had been detected in these pipes, which required a deeper inspection.
A long process
EDF had warned that the increase of the 57th French nuclear reactor would be a progressive process, which may require a dozen scheduled maintenance stops and, in parallel, unforeseen operations. The third generation reactor connected to the network on December 21, 2024, 12 years late.
“These events, mainly linked to human errors, reflect the transition from a culture of the site to a culture of exploitation,” the IRSN continued.
