President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the United States was close to a commercial agreement with China and said he was ready to meet his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping before the end of the year if he concluded a pact.
Towards a new extension of the truce?
After a commercial truce concluded in mid -May, Donald Trump established on August 12 as a deadline to conclude a sustainable commercial agreement with China, under the penalty of resting prohibitive customs tasks.
The negotiations took place at the end of July in Stockholm among US and Chinese officials to try to reach a new extension of the 90 -day truce. An agreement could open the way to a possible summit between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping.
The latter “requested a meeting, and I will probably have a meeting before the end of the year, if we reach an agreement,” Donald Trump said Tuesday. “If we do not reach an agreement, there will be no meetings,” he continued.
