Infographic Donald Trump attracts his customs duties this Thursday: What are the most affected countries?

Donald Trump’s new customs tasks must go into force this Thursday, August 7. They vary from 10 to 50% according to the country.

It is the big day for Donald Trump. The customs duties of the US president against dozens of countries will take effect this Thursday, August 7.

In recent weeks, the white Masonic tenant has signed commercial agreements with certain partners in the United States. For Europe in particular, the “agreement” concluded between Washington and Brussels establishes from 15% of 30% instead of 30 for most exported products throughout the Atlantic. But depending on the country, the tax level varies from 10 to … 50%.

Up to 50% for Brazil

As an exception, customs duties applied to Brazilian products have been applied one day in advance, since Wednesday, August 6. And 50%, the highest rate negotiated by Trump. Last week, President Donald Trump had made a decree ratifying this surcharge. And this, while Brazil should not be initially affected by customs tasks beyond the 10%floor.

Precisely, the 50% surcharge does not completely apply to all Brazilian exports to the United States, but, despite everything, to a large majority. In fact, if Donald Trump saved 694 products in his decree dating from July 30, more than 3,800 are already affected by this surcharge.

If the US President Penalizes both Brazil, it is because he criticizes the Brazilian justice for prosecuting former President Jair Bolsonaro, accused of a coup attempt after his defeat in the 2022 presidential election.

Syrian products taxed at 41%, Switzerland 39%

Behind Brazil, other countries are also very penalized. Syrian products, for example, will be taxed at 41%. Switzerland even had the unpleasant surprise to see that taxes on their exports would jump to 39% instead of 31% initially planned. The Swiss president also went to Washington to try to obtain a gesture from the US president.

The White House tenant also has India at its spotlight directed by 25% of customs tasks and must be subject to additional 25% surcharge that will only apply in 21 days, “in response to the continuous purchase of Russian oil.”

As for China, the negotiations are still underway between Beijing and Washington to extend the truce that must end on August 12. This truce provides customs duties to 10% in American products and 30% in Chinese products.

The vast majority of the associated countries of the United States are subjected to 15%of customs duties, such as the EU. This is particularly in the case of Japan and South Korea, for example. The United Kingdom is improving a bit with 10%.
