The Fensea and the Rural Coordination insurgent on Thursday, August 7 against the decision of the Constitutional Council to censor the reintroduction of acetamipride, a prohibited pesticide, provided by Dupulmo’s law, while the peasant confederation praised a “scenic victory.”
“It’s a shock, it is unacceptable and incomprehensible,” Jérôme Asey, vice president of the powerful Agricultural Union, Fensea, allied with young farmers on Thursday.
“Agriculture is nothing for them”
The text adopted in Parliament provided this reintroduction “face a serious threat that compromises agricultural production”, without time limit or restriction of the products in question, but with a review clause “after a period of three years.”
Wise men estimated that “lack of sufficient supervision” during the duration, type or technique of treatment and in the sectors in question, this measure was contrary to the Environmental Charter, which has constitutional value and states in particular “the right to live in a balanced and respectful environment.”
For Jérôme Asey, this censorship is due to a “lack of clarification” in the writing law and called President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister François Bayrou to “find a legislative framework” to concretize their promises to farmers.
However, he praised the validation of “administrative alleys” to build reproduction buildings and water storage work.
“It does not matter for them if the health, social and environmental standards of foreign products that we will consume tomorrow are well below the taxes to French agriculture,” adds rural coordination, asking for “promoting French products.”
“We hope that mobilization does not come out”
On the contrary, the confection Paysanne, the third agricultural union that advocates a “real” agroecological transition, campaigned with many NGOs and scientists against the return of this pesticide qualified as “bees murderer.”
“We hope that the mobilization does not go out,” he added in reference to the unprecedented success of a petition that brought together more than two million signers against Dupumb and the reintroduction of this neonicotinoid.
