Emmanuel Macron called on states X on Thursday, negotiating an international treaty for the fight against plastic pollution to “adopt a text that meets the environmental and health emergency”, considering “unacceptable” the “lack of ambition” of the text presented on Wednesday and immediately rejected by several countries.
“The World Treaty against Plastic Pollution is our opportunity to make things happen. But the lack of ambition in the text presented (Wednesday) in the United Nations is unacceptable. I call all the states present in Geneva to adopt a text for environmental and health emergency,” writes the French president.
