The ascending revaluation of the contribution that fashion brands pay for the end of the life of their products to guarantee, an application of actors in the collection of used textiles, overwhelmed by the volumes, was formalized on Thursday by a ministerial decree.
This amount, or the ecological convenum that operates in the principle of the “Pays pollute”, now amounts to 223 euros per ton of ordered textile waste, based on 250,000 tons ordered, a support of 49 million euros by 2025.
Previously, this contribution paid to the actors of the collection, classification and reuse for the ecoorganization of refashion amounted to 156 euros per ton. In 2026, this amount will increase to 228 euros per ton, support of 57 million euros.
The Minister of Ecological Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, committed in July to this revaluation, after the classification network of used textile companies related to him he poured tons of clothes in front of several important brands (Decathlon, Okaïdi, Kiabi …) and interrupted the collection in his terminals to request more support for the sector.

His boss, Pierre Dupunchel, accused Refashion of wanting to “quell the current classification sector” for the benefit of brands, which sometimes, like Kiabi, launched its own second -hand clothing sales service.
The recipes in the sector are eroding, the still of good quality clothes are now recovered by the brands, or is sold in Vinting, and no longer align second -hand solidarity stores that allow these reuse professionals to survive, who only find low quality clothes in the arms. The sector represents 3,000 jobs, including 2,000 for relay.
The relay requested a revaluation to 304 euros per ton of ordered clothing. Ecological remodeling, on the other hand, stressed “the sudden drop in export courses for classified textiles, in Africa, mainly” – Africans are increasingly heading towards new clothes or clothing that comes from Asia.
Each year, approximately 270,000 tons of textile waste in France and “60% of ordered products” are sold in Fripe, 90% abroad, according to the 2023 Reengodion Report are collected.
