“The government despises us”: taxis ready to “block the country” at the beginning of the school year to be heard

Wind standing against the new rules of health transport, taxis unions relaun a new mobilization of September 5.

Taxi drivers want to “block” the country. Taxi drivers are preparing for a new mobilization as of September 5 against the reform of health transport led by the government and health insurance.

“Since the Government continues to despise us, we will participate in the blockade of this country to make us listen,” the Secretary General of the National Taxi Federation (FNDT), Dominique Buisson, in BFMTV. “There will be no date” as to the end of the mobilization, he said, while a meeting between Unión was held the previous day to decide the forms of the taxi protest.

Airports, fuel deposits …

In addition to a great manifestation in Paris in the fields-Elysées, taxis unions also want to block Parisian airports of Orly and Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle, advances Dominique Buisson.

The sector is against the new health transport rules aimed at saving 150 million euros and avoiding abuses, which will take effect next October. Among the modifications, the care package will be harmonized nationwide and increase, but the yields of the “vacuum” once the patient is deposited, expensive, will dissuade strongly.

“Monologues”

“What we have been asking since May, since the first mobilization must be heard, heard, and especially that we call professionals. We established theories, which are not applicable,” said Dominique Buisson, for whom the unions ask the Government “to at least get around a table” to “discuss.”

“Today they are not discussions, they are monologues,” he said, ensuring that the unions had “encrypted solutions.”

The FNDT 30% figure the potential loss of billing caused by this reform, while health insurance states that it will benefit the majority of taxis. This last judges these necessary measures to face the strong increase in health transport costs, which amounted to 6.7 billion euros in 2024, or 2,100 million euros more than ten years ago. Taxis are today at the origin of almost costs, compared to less than 20% in the early 2000s.

The vast majority of taxis (85%) carry out the transport of patients, according to the FNDT. A often essential activity for your business: reimbursed transport represents half of taxis billing with an agreement, according to Social Security, or even 80% for certain drivers.
