Balenciaga withdraws campaign featuring children and apologizes

Criticized for having staged children in photographs using sadomasochism codes, the luxury brand has done its mea culpa.

If Balenciaga has made provocation his hallmark, this time he has decided to back down. Although she had starred in her last ad campaign in children with teddy bears in bondage outfits, the brand was subjected to a barrage of criticism.

So much so that the French record company, accused of sexualizing children through the use of sadomasochism codes, finally opted to withdraw the series of photographs in question.

“Our teddy bear bags should not have been featured with children,” the Kering group brand continued, before adding, “we removed the campaign immediately from all platforms.”

But the fashion house issued a new apology in the wake of its first post.

This time, the brand refers to another advertising campaign carried out as part of a collaboration with Adidas. In a photo published on November 3, a judicial document, half hidden by the cases, mentions acts of child pornography, as detected by Internet users in Twitter.

According to le figaroit would be an excerpt from a 2008 United States Supreme Court ruling. “The judgment then determined that offering or asking to transfer, sell, deliver or “exchange child pornography did not violate the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States”, explains the newspaper.

Balenciaga said it had “taken legal action against those responsible for the installation of the shoot, which includes unapproved elements.”

“We strongly condemn child abuse in all its forms. We stand up for the safety and well-being of children,” the company added.
