Wines will not be exempt from customs tasks. Despite its negotiation efforts, the European Union “has failed to” obtain the exemption of customs duties for wines, said a European commissioner, on Thursday, August 21, the date of the end of the commercial agreement with the United States.
The wine sector will now be taxed at 15% at the entrance to the United States, the European Commissioner Maros Sefcovic announced. “Unfortunately, we were not successful,” he said at a press conference. This exemption was strongly claimed in particular in France and Italy.
