A few hundred people demonstrated Wednesday morning outside the French headquarters of the Sanofi pharmaceutical laboratory in Gentilly, at the request of the CGT, which was joined by the CFDT, FO and SUD, the CGT told AFP on Wednesday.
The demonstration -400 people according to the CGT, about 200 according to the leadership of Sanofi-, which follows a strike movement that began a few days ago in the French group, coincided with the celebration of the Mandatory Annual Negotiations (NAO) on wages. ., summoned by the management.
The latter had initially proposed an increase of 3.5% and a bonus of 1,000 euros, proposals rejected by the unions, which demand wage increases sufficient to offset inflation.
A 10% salary increase
The CGT requests the hiring of two thirds of the precarious present in the group, a salary increase of 10% for 2023, and an update of 5% for the year 2022 with retroactive effect.
“Obviously it is too early to know the outcome of the negotiations. But Sanofi has already committed to proposing a collective increase for 2023 and 2024, after having already carried out a collective increase for the year 2022,” reacted the French laboratory, in a email to AFP.
fights
The demonstration led to scuffles between the police and the demonstrators, who managed to penetrate inside the compound.
Elected officials were present alongside protesters, such as LFI MPs Thomas Porte and Mathilde Panot, who tweeted: “4 billion for shareholders, endless job cuts, loss of country’s health sovereignty.”
“500 million in public aid. 1,750 jobs cut. It’s Sanofi only in 2021,” LFI deputy François Ruffin, who has often challenged Sanofi in the Chamber, reacted on Twitter.
The strike movement now affects more than 14 sites in France, according to the CGT. Blockages occur at some of these sites, such as the one in Val-de-Reuil (Eure), specialized in vaccines. According to Sanofi management, around 1,000 employees were on strike at French sites on Tuesday and about 600 on Wednesday.
