A first contagious nodular dermatosis house (DNC) has been detected in the AIN and contaminated agricultural cattle must be sacrificed, the prefecture of this department said on Sunday.
This viral and contagious disease led to the killing of hundreds of cattle in Savoy and Haute-Savoie this summer.
DNC first case in Ain
This new DNC house was confirmed on Saturday “within a summer in the east of the department.” This is the first case of DNC in AIN since the detection of the first home in Savoy on June 29, 2025, the Prefecture underlines in a press release.
All cattle belonging to the contaminated home will have to be killed “in the next few days,” he said.
To avoid the spread of the disease to other animals, the Prefect has taken “immediate measures, in particular the strengthening of the monitoring and prohibition of the movements of the cattle present in the grass.”
Human and psychological support is established in relation to the Chamber of Agriculture for breeders affected by depopulation, which will be financially compensated by the State.
Great vaccination campaign
The first case of DNC was detected on June 29 in Savoy, before this non -transmissible human disease it spread rapidly. In mid -August, 74 homes had been identified, distributed in 39 farms, according to a statement from the Ministry.
To stop the spread of the disease, transmitted through Sting Insects, the State launched on July 18 a great vaccination campaign on 310,000 cattle in the two departments of Savoyard, as well as in the neighboring departments of Ain and Isère.
As a reminder, contagious nodular dermatosis (DNC) is not transmitted to humans and does not lead to any risk of food and dairy products.
