“Everything is possible, but everything is paid”: the Medef chief warns against risk measures of the next budget

The director of Medef Patrick Martin punishes the uncertainties that weigh on French companies in the face of a fragile political situation and the probable resignation of the prime minister.

He says he is “rational but not defeatist.” When asked on Wednesday in Franceinfo, Medef Chief Patrick Martin alerts the dangers that weigh on French companies in a context of political instability and hardening of international competition. Before the exceptional surcharge requested from large and medium -sized companies, if it is perpetuated, Patrick Martin warns: “Everything is possible, but everything is paid, because it is already very heavy and very dissuasive.”

Almost half of the capital of companies interested in being owned by non -residents, fears a disinterest in investors and a drop in investments, “if French companies are less efficient because they are recharged.”

There is no possible parenthesis

The president of Medef also worried about an increased risk of instability caused by François Bayrou’s decision to request a vote of trust on September 8 and a “distressing” political situation in France that is part of a general landscape that is already “worrying” by companies. The commitment of the prime minister, even if he has the merit of “calling a cat a cat” in the eyes of the boss chief, “he added in the minds of entrepreneurs this climate of uncertainty that is not good for the economy,” said Patrick Martin.

“I appeal to responsibility. Of course, there are electoral deadlines (…), but the situation is quite critical,” said Medef president, whose summer university opens this Wednesday. When asked about the perspective of betting on a “rest” in 2026, waiting for the 2027 presidential elections, Patrick Martin immediately refutes this possibility: “We cannot make a cross until 2027, no one can guarantee that we will have a political solution.”
