“Without abandonment of movement”: taxis postpone their mobilization provided that the government is suspended

Taxis federations explain that “they have no guarantee of having a legitimate political interlocutor and capable of making commitments”, provided that political uncertainty remains.

Taxi Federations announced on Wednesday, August 27, the postponement of its mobilization scheduled for September 5, on Wednesday, September 5 against new health transport rates, due to the possible fall of the Government on September 8.

“While uncertainty remains in the maintenance or fall of the political government, there is no guarantee of having a legitimate political interlocutor and capable of making commitments,” federations justified in a joint press release.

Taxis federations had planned “put the country at the end” at the beginning of September, in the words of the Secretary General of the National Taxi Federation, Dominique Buisson in the AFP at the end of August.

“In any case, an abandonment of movement”

They intended to block stations, borders, fuel distribution sites or champions in Paris to protest mainly against the new prices for the transport of patients decided by Social Security to release savings in this increasingly expensive expenses post.

“This is not a case of abandonment of the movement,” the federations warned, “if a new executive is designated, we will act with the same determination so that our file is prioritized in the agenda.”

A new formalized agreement in early August has changed the rules to take care of health insurance for patients by taxis with the aim of reducing their growing costs. They will request in October.

The problem of vacuum feedback

Among the modifications, the care package will be harmonized nationwide and increase, but the yields of the “vacuum” once the patient is deposited, expensive, will dissuade strongly.

The FNDT estimates 30% the potential loss of billing due to this reform when health insurance states that it will benefit most taxis. She expects no less than 150 million euros in savings, which she considers necessary compared to health transport costs: 6.7 billion euros in 2024, 7% more than 2023 and 2.1 billion euros more than ten years ago.

Taxis occupy an increasingly important place there and are now at the origin of almost half of the costs, against less than 20% in the early 2000s. For Dominique Buisson, health transport is increasingly expensive, especially because patients have “more quotes” and should go more and more due to “the distance of care centers,” he told the AFP at the end of August.
