Air Antilles needs to generate several million euros in funds to be able to “continue” its activity, warned the president of the Saint-Martin community on Saturday, which is a shareholder of up to 60%.
Some “6 million (euros) could do the trick” to have “the cash required to continue the activity,” said the president of the Territorial Council of Saint-Martin, and the Board of Directors of Air Antilles, Louis Mussington, during a “emergency” press conference.
Four interested investors
The airline obtained on August 29 an extension of one month of its operation license, until September 30, an additional period granted by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC). “We are allowed to continue theft. We have a month to find solid investors,” said Louis Mussington.
According to him, two of them already meet the requirements of their financial solidity. A business bank had the mandate to study its files.
16 million euros already injected
The Saint-Martin community has already injected more than 16 million euros. “We have a meeting on September 12 at the Extrande Ministry,” said Louis Mussington. The president of the Saint-Martin community believes that by then, the guarantees will have been found. He hopes that the DGAC will then grant Air Antilles a permanent license.
