The National Aviation Federation and its Professions (FNAM) on Tuesday reported a slowdown in air traffic growth in France, according to it, the Tax on plane tickets included in the 2025 budget.
“The year 2025 shows a clear deceleration in traffic growth in France,” he deplored before the Pascal press of Izaguirre, president of the Fnam, which observes “a form of French abandonment in a European environment.”
Domestic air traffic, “particularly affected,” is 73% of its 2019 level, “said Pascal de Izaguirre, added that” the traffic that links Paris with the province has returned to its 1984 level. “
“We had expressed our fears and our anticipations after the increases in taxes on the negative impact it would have on French air traffic. Unfortunately, this is what we see,” the manager deplored.
Companies reduce wing in France
The increase in fiscal tickets, adopted at the same time as the state budget last February, brought the tax of 2.63 euros to 7.30 euros for a position in economic class from France to Europe.
“Airlines that have redistribution opportunities have reduced the capacity of the markets considered more attractive,” said Fnam President, citing the example of the Ryanair company.
In response to the increase in the solidarity tax in aircraft tickets, the Irish company announced at the end of July a 13% reduction in its capacity in France, or 750,000 seats less, leaving three regional airports (Strasbourg, Bergerac and Brive) for winter.
However, the head of the company Michael O’Leary had assured at the end of March that it would not eliminate the regional service.
In early August at the beginning of August, he threatened to reduce his skills in France “even more” if the government decided to increase air tax.
