According to Swedish television TV4 NyheternaSweden wants to sell Ukraine “a very large number” of combat aircraft, specifically Jas Gripen model E. According to the media, 120 units could be delivered, which would be double the largest sale ever made by Sweden.
The JAS 39 Gripen E is the latest version of the Swedish fighter aircraft, developed by Saab. This model has a more powerful engine, longer range, and more advanced radar and electronics than previous versions.
A meeting between Ukrainian and Swedish leaders
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is currently visiting Sweden and met with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. According ReutersTheir meeting took place at the Linkoping factory, where the manufacturer makes the Gripen. The two leaders are expected to discuss Russia’s ongoing offensive against Ukraine and strengthening defense cooperation.
Following the meeting, the Swedish Prime Minister and President Zelensky will hold a joint press conference to provide an update on defense exports.
