She was a candidate of the left in Matignon in 2024: Lucie Castets found a new job, she will work at Bercy to resolve conflicts with companies

Lucie Castets, senior civil servant and former candidate of the New Popular Front for Matignon, returns to work at the Ministry of Economy for a temporary assignment with the Business Mediator.

Having not been appointed Prime Minister, Lucie Castets got a new position. The one who had been designated by the New Popular Front as Matignon’s candidate returns to the Ministry of Economy for a temporary mission with the Business Mediator, BFMTV learned from Lucie Castets’ entourage, confirming information from Politico.

The senior official began her career in Bercy in the General Directorate of the Treasury and, therefore, returns to her original organization. Meanwhile, Lucie Castets was assigned to the city of Paris, where she held the position of financial director, and then on maternity leave.

Since mid-September she had been waiting for a mission and was therefore assigned to Bercy. Please note that she is still a civil servant, so this is not a consulting mission carried out by an external company, but rather an assignment.

Successive prime ministers

The Business Mediator is a public service in charge of facilitating the amicable resolution of conflicts between economic actors and public or private entities. The content of his mission was not revealed “for reasons of confidentiality”, indicates our source.

Lucie Castet is also spokesperson for the association “Our Public Services”. After the legislative elections in June 2024, the parties that make up the New Popular Front (LFI, PS, Les Ecologistes, PCF) designated her as a joint candidate in Matignon.

But President Emmanuel Macron decided not to appoint her and preferred to choose Michel Barnier, later overthrown by a motion of no confidence. His successor, François Bayrou, suffered the same fate and now it is Sébastien Lecornu who is trying to escape censorship in a divided chamber.
