The World Trade Organization (WTO) announced this Wednesday that the European Union was authorized to demand sanctions from the United States in the conflict between them over US customs duties on imports of Spanish olives.
The European Union can request the WTO Dispute Settlement Body for “authorization to suspend concessions or other obligations for an amount not exceeding $13.64 million per year,” according to the report of the WTO panel examining the case.
