New controversy for Shein. A few days before the Chinese giant opened its first permanent physical store in Paris, the Anti-Fraud Agency (DGCCRF) announced on Saturday that it had reported to court the sale of “child-like sex dolls” after verifying their presence on the e-commerce site.
“Shein had accustomed us to the worst: products that cause cancer, the exploitation of workers at home, planes that destroy the planet… (…) But, honestly, I could not have foreseen that they would go this far,” Yann Rivoallan, president of the French Federation of Women’s Ready-to-Wear, stated indignantly on Sunday on BFMTV.
“How can we get to this level of monstrosity to make money and sell our products?” He continued, calling on Shein to “provide the contact details of all the people who purchased” these dolls because “every line of ignominy” has been crossed.
“I can’t believe this man associates with these monsters”
Yann Rivoallan took the opportunity to “send a message” to Frédéric Merlin, the head of BHV who has joined forces with Shein to host the Chinese giant’s first physical store in the Parisian department stores starting on Wednesday, November 5.
“This man is French, this man undoubtedly has values and that is why he must turn around, there is still time. It is up to him to say ‘Yes, I was wrong’, he has the right to be wrong,” concluded the president of the French Women’s Ready-to-Wear Federation.
