Pierre de Villiers believes that the leaders of democracies “no longer have the ability to have a vision”

The former chief of staff of the armies estimated on our antenna that the army model in France is “inadequate” for a “possible high-intensity war.”

“They no longer have a strategic vision of our country and our Europe.” General Pierre de Villiers was the guest of BFMTV this Monday night, in particular to react to the latest news of the war in Ukraine.

in his latest book words of honor, the former chief of the Defense Staff evokes in particular the “long-term” strategies of China and Russia for the next 20-30 years. Two authoritarian regimes at the forefront of the international scene.

“Our army has been dismembered”

Pierre de Villiers assures, however, that he is not only targeting Emmanuel Macron – whose breakup in 2017 caused a stir – but all the leaders since the end of the Soviet era.

“Look how our army fell apart after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. It has been since then that we have been on this slope, we have left all defense of the territory,” the French military man still judged.

The general finally wonders about the capacity of the French armed forces but also of the entire nation in the face of a “possible high-intensity war” like the one Ukraine has been experiencing for the past nine months. “Would young Frenchmen of fighting age do what the Ukrainians did? The question arises.”
