The Italian company Trenitalia plans to start up trains between Paris and Madrid, via Barcelona, at the end of 2024, announced the general director of the public group Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (FS).

The Italian group, which has been present in Paris-Lyon for a year now, intends to open a new link between Paris and Barcelona, which would be connected to the Madrid-Barcelona line launched on November 25 by its subsidiary Iryo.
“There is a plan and we are working on it” and “we could see this dream come true by the end of 2024,” he added.
The connection between Paris and Barcelona by TGV has been provided since Sunday by SNCF alone, which broke its association with the incumbent Spanish operator Renfe. The French company then offers the Barcelona-Madrid route with its low-cost TGV Ouigo.
