Airline: which companies are on strike (and which are no longer)?

It is likely that several social movements will interrupt the departures by plane for the Christmas holidays.

In addition to the train, the air is also threatened by several stoppages for these Christmas parties. Several companies submitted a series of notices, others were lifted after negotiations between unions and management. Let’s take stock of the situation.

strike notice confirmed

french bee: from December 22 to 25 (renewable strike)

Headquartered in Orly, the company serves Réunion, French Polynesia and the Dominican Republic, as well as destinations in the United States.

The CGT and the SNPNC-FO, on behalf of the flight attendants, denounce “multiple dysfunctions in the labor and working conditions of the Cabin Crew as well as very low salary conditions. After more than two years of colossal effort, the loss of more than 21% of salary, general inflation and the increase in the cost of living during layovers, our working conditions have deteriorated drastically.” And demand a general increase of 12 %.

The management evokes an “immoral” strike and for the moment maintains its social calendar with salary negotiations scheduled for the beginning of February.

Air France: from December 22 to January 2

Despite fourteen meetings since September and ongoing negotiations, the conflict between the management of Air France and part of the unions of flight attendants and hostesses seems bogged down. Unac and SNGAF, which together represent just over 50% of the cabin crew (PNC), maintain their strike notice for the moment. “The strike continues,” Anne Vildy, UNAC’s general secretary, told AFP.

“We are facing a management that understands, unfortunately, only the balance of power, even if that means running the risk of degrading the activity in a period as important as the end of the year celebrations”, denounce the unions

The agreement that regulates the working conditions of cabin crew ended at the end of October and management is negotiating a new one with the unions with the aim of closing it in March. Until then, Unac and SNGAF demand the “contractualization of their working conditions” which they consider threatened by the option of placing them under a “management note”, therefore unilaterally modifiable, which management disputes.

Air Antilles and Air Guyane: from December 17 to 23

The SNPNC-FO union denounces “multiple dysfunctions in the employment and working conditions of cabin crew (PNC)”.

Air Guyane says it expects “severe flight disruptions between December 17-23.”

“Some exchanges have taken place with our leaders. Few promises have been made but they are not up to the task after 20 years of absence of true social dialogue and appreciation of the work of all employees”, denounce the unions that announce “a tough movement”.

strike notice lifted

Privateer

“A strike movement had been called by the SNPL (National Union of Airline Pilots, editor’s note) from December 16 to 22, 2022. After discussions between the management and the SNPL, this strike movement was suspended” Corsair said in a statement on Thursday. Press release.

“All flights will be operated, with no changes in flight schedules for customers,” he adds.

easyJet

After a day of negotiations, management agreed to a significant pay increase for 2023 and the unions withdrew their threat to file a strike notice for the end of year celebrations.

The French subsidiary of easyJet has finally agreed to increase the base salary of Cabin Crew by 7.5% and that of variable parts by 3.5% in 2023. It will also pay a “Macron bonus” of 3000 euros to all flight attendants and hostesses.
