SNCF strike: for Noah, from the national collective of controllers, “there is always a way out”

As train cancellations multiply over the Christmas weekend, a train manager explains his reasons for abandoning this holiday season.

200,000 travelers will not be able to circulate normally on Friday. In question, a strike movement initiated by the ASCT, a national collective of controllers born on social networks.

According to Noah, one of the members of this group, there is still room for negotiation. “We are waiting for the door to be opened a little more by management,” he said on BFMTV. Specifically, he expects management to “call on the unions to receive them urgently and gather around the table for a final negotiation.”

“There’s always an exit”

Asked about the motivations for this strike movement, Noah recalled that the bosses’ demands do not date from yesterday.

“The company has been pending our demands for several months,” he lamented, before continuing: “unfortunately, management would rather lose millions and prevent the French from seeing their families at Christmas than respect our profession and its complexities.”

An additional monthly increase of 100 euros

After the first negotiations started between the unions and management, the controllers obtained two annual bonuses of 600 euros, or 38.53 euros per month. The first affects all railway workers, while the second will only apply to employers.

But the profession demands more. In fact, they lack 100 euros of monthly increase, that is to say 1200 euros per year, to reach their claims. Requests that Noah justifies due to the difficulties that the controllers encounter on a daily basis.

“We have responsibilities on board, we provide service on board, customer information, we manage disruptive situations, delays when there are any, we control the ticket,” he added.

CGT Cheminots and SUD-Rail have simply maintained their strike notice for the two weekends of the Christmas season. On the other hand, they do not formally call the strike like the ASCT collective.

On Friday, in detail, two out of every three TGVs should run on the Atlantic and Mediterranean axes, and one out of every two trains on the North axis. However, the Paris-Lille shuttle will be almost normal. Three of the four TGV Est will run. TGVs between provincial stations should be more affected. Three Ouigo out of four must also circulate. The Intercités will function normally, even if deletions have been reported.

Faced with these interruptions, the SNCF announced on Wednesday exceptional reimbursement measures.
