If the travelers will be saved from the transition strikes to the new year thanks to the agreement reached between the management of the SNCF and the unions on Thursday night, the riots continue for the Christmas weekend.
As indicated on Tuesday and then on Wednesday night, two thirds of the trains circulated on the network yesterday but the proportion drops to three trains out of five for Saturday and Sunday. In total, some 200,000 passengers are affected by these cancellations, which add up to 800 between Friday and Monday according to calculations by Le Parisien.
- One in two TGVs on the North and Atlantic routes
On the northern axis of the SNCF network, half of the trains will run with almost normal traffic between Paris and Lille. The train ratio will be the same on the Atlantic axis and therefore deteriorates compared to Friday.
- Three out of five TGVs on the Southeast and East axes
The proportion of trains that will honor their trips will be higher on the Southeast and East axes with a slight decrease on the Mediterranean axis compared to the previous day (60% compared to 66%) and a more pronounced decrease on the East TGV, of which 75% were held on Friday.
- Update on Ouigo, Lyria and Intercités
Apart from the high-speed trains, two Ouigo out of three are planned, while three-quarters of Lyria and Intercités should run.
Compensation for travelers, bonus of 720 euros for controllers
As of Thursday, travelers affected by train cancellations can fill out a form available on the SNCF website in order to obtain exceptional compensation equivalent to double the price of their ticket. This compensation is materialized in a purchase voucher valid for one year and is added to the refund of the ticket price, if applicable.
At the end of the meeting on Thursday night, the SNCF management proposed additional measures to limit the extension of the strike. These measures include an increase in the specific premium for controllers from 600 to 720 euros gross per year, as well as the creation of 160 additional jobs starting next year, to which 40 “in sensitive trains” will be added.
