Salaries, average increases of 3.7%, an unprecedented acceleration in 20 years

Many habits have been shaken and tensions are not ready to drop.

Faced with record inflation, wage increases are on everyone’s lips. Just concluded in the spring, NAOs returned for a second round in the fall at many companies.

As a result, wages rose an average of 3.7% over a year at the end of the third quarter, an acceleration unprecedented in 20 years.

But that’s not enough to catch up with inflation, which is at its highest since the 1980s. Some companies have offset it with profit-sharing or profit-sharing bonuses.

New advanced NAOs

Macron’s new bonus is also successful with more than 700,000 affected employees. And finally, many companies activate less common levers such as transport vouchers or restaurant tickets.

However, it is not enough to calm the discontent that is erupting in many groups. TotalEnergies, EDF, the big banks or even the SNCF are giving large checks to lower the temperature.

But the respite may be short-lived. With inflation set to peak at 7% at the start of the year, many companies have taken the lead with NAO 2023 pushed forward to early next year or even from the end of this year.
