Despite the slowdown in economic activity, business leaders remain confident. According to the ManpowerGroup barometer presented by the parisianthe forecast of net employment* in France amounts to +27% in the first quarter of 2023. A level certainly lower than 7 points compared to the 4th quarter of 2022, but stable compared to the same period of the previous year .
Positive intentions in all regions
Hiring intentions are positive in all regions of France and particularly dynamic in the Paris region (+34%, +2 points in a year), unlike the North region (+13%, -15 points in a year ). They also reached record levels in the transport, logistics and automotive sector (+41%, +2 points in a quarter). On the contrary, they fell 40 points in a quarter in the communication services sector (+8%).
The Net Employment Forecast is also positive in all companies regardless of their size. +9% in companies with less than 10 employees, +31% in those with 10 to 49 employees, +24% in those with 50 to 249 employees and +31% in those with more than 250 employees. In contrast, only companies with 10 to 49 employees show an increase (+9 points) compared to the last quarter of 2022.
Finally, when asked about future challenges, employers cite cybersecurity at the top of their technology priorities, “whether it’s about hiring or forcing new talent in this area,” ManpowerGroup notes. Thus, 17% of managers intend to hire experts in this field and 38% believe that this issue is a priority in terms of training their existing teams.
