The aid of 6,000 euros for the hiring of a work-study student will be maintained “until the end of the five-year period” in order to reach the goal of one million apprentices in 2027, the Ministry of Labor announced this Friday in a statement from press. launching.
In the continuity of the aid decided during the Covid crisis to avoid the collapse of hiring, the Government announced on December 1 that aid of 6,000 euros would be paid to all companies, for contracts entered into in 2023 with alternation, less than greater, for the first year of the contract.
“In order to strengthen access to learning for less qualified young people, this aid will continue in the coming years to continue supporting a training system that has proven its worth for youth employment,” the ministry stressed in a statement.
More than 800,000 contracts signed
“This renewed support will allow companies to anticipate more and, consequently, facilitate the hiring of young people: this year more than 800,000 contracts have been signed and we continue to aim for one million apprentices per year by 2027”, the Minister congratulates himself. of Labor Olivier Dussopt and the Delegate Minister for Vocational Training Carole Grandjean. According to INSEE, almost a fifth of the net job creation over the last year was due to apprenticeships.
Accessible to young people from 16 to 29 years old, the apprenticeship is based on the principle of alternation between theoretical education and professional training with the employer with whom the apprentice has signed his contract. Its growth is explained both by the 2018 reform (which notably liberalized the opening of training centers and expanded learning to young people between 26 and 29 years old) and by hiring bonuses.
This very strong growth since 2018 has been brought to 75% by training at the bac level +2 or more, according to the Ministry of Labor. Indeed, higher education can take advantage of this hiring bonus, something that did not happen before the Covid crisis.
