The CGT energy federation, the first electricity and gas union, relies on a renewables strike against the pension reform and “nothing” is prohibited in its “battle plan”, in particular considering “selective cuts” and actions to support other sectors on strike.
“We are pressing for the renewal to be validated, but it is still the pickets that validate the renewals of the strike movement,” Claude Martin, federal secretary of the FNME-CGT, told AFP on Friday, the result of a consultation with the entire CGT. unions of companies in the sector. According to him, different strategies might be necessary, depending on the sites. Both strikes are renewed “every afternoon for the next day” and movements over several days, in various periods, “leaving pauses in between”, “but it is not impossible that it goes hard from the beginning a little everywhere ” and therefore from the national day of action on January 19.
“Energy, electricity and gas are at the heart of the entire economy”
Another pressure tool, “selective cuts” in administrative buildings, such as ministries, or road radars. More broadly, the “recovery of the work tool” is on the agenda, sometimes in support of other sectors of activity.
The strikers in transport, metallurgy, petrochemicals or ports and docks could thus count on electricians and gas workers to stop their work tool: “there will be no isolated federations, each in its corners”, warned Claude Martin, whose federation intends to “work towards the convergence of struggles”.
“Energy, electricity and gas are at the heart of the entire economy, so for all employers to express their discontent, unfortunately the economy may be affected and some companies are also finding it difficult to operate,” adds the union leader.
The CGT, the main union in the energy sector, foresees, in addition to reductions in electricity production, delaying gas storage works, or preventing the unloading of methane tankers. “Nothing has been decided, there are ongoing discussions,” Mr. Martin summed up. On Monday night, the CGT will meet with all the energy federations, to see if they are on the same line and if they can implement “a common action plan.”
