IEFP has 75 thousand euros to study youth employment solutions

Diagnosing what is going wrong and finding ways to create more job opportunities for young Portuguese is the goal of a partnership launched today between the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) and ISCTE. Dinheiro Vivo knows that the government intends to finance this project with a total amount of up to 75 thousand euros in the total term of the contract, which is aimed at a period of three years.

It should be remembered that Portugal is one of the European countries where young people find it most difficult to find a job – the percentage of the population aged between 15 and 29 without work was 15.9%, above the average of 13% registered in the community block. And young people who find work are usually poorly paid (almost never above the national minimum wage).

Identifying appropriate ways to incentivize public policies that can reverse the youth unemployment curve is therefore a necessity. And it is to answer you that this agreement is now being made.

The protocol signed today between the IEFP and ISCTE includes the development of studies that can be agreed under the themes of Youth Employment, Youth Unemployment, Youth and Youth Employment Policy and the Labor Market.

As Dinheiro Vivo knows, the partnership will take shape through the Youth Employment Observatory, with the aim of providing the IEFP with “evaluative studies of the implementation of the measures taken in the context of youth employment and unemployment”, in order to criteria for decision-making. Another objective is to steer public policy so that it can become more effective in achieving employment and youth employment goals.
