Sharebooks, bringing culture closer to everyone

The Sharebooks platform, new to the market, allows many people, especially students, to buy, sell or donate books close to home. An innovative solution that contributes to the circular economy and responds to many social and environmental problems.

In France, 147 million books were destroyed in 2021. This is already 5 million more than in 2020. At the same time, other figures show that books represent a real social gap. For example, 65% of students say they have learning problems due to not being able to have the necessary equipment. “Some, in a precarious situation, simply cannot buy books as part of their studies” says Maxime Raillot, founder of Sharebooks “It is a paradox because on the one hand we have books that are destroyed and on the other students who are in need.”

Faced with this observation, this young Norman has developed a unique platform that allows books to be given a second life. The principle is simple, Sharebooks allows you to connect all the people who want to sell or buy books within a radius of 25 kilometers. The objective is to facilitate access to a range of second-hand books, at reduced prices, both between individuals and in resource centers, collaborating bookstores or associations such as Le Secours Populaire.

Predict book sales using an algorithm

If the Sharebooks platform has already emerged, new features should appear over time. As for the algorithm, it will be officially launched at the end of 2023. “That is why we are looking for partners and financing to be able to carry out all these projects” adds Maxime Raillot, who also wants to thank Normandie Incubation, the incubator that is accompanying him on this adventure, but also the communication agency Les Causantes.

More than just a connected platform, Sharebooks represents a global solution that supports all players in the book market. If Sharebooks is already attractive in France, the platform could well develop internationally and in particular in the United States or Canada, where contacts are already underway.
