Emmanuel Macron repeats it: he was elected in May 2022 in a program, which he must therefore apply for. Including a pension reform: “In the presidential election things were said clearly”, he said again last week during a trip to Barcelona. If Laurent Berger does not question the legitimacy and the election of the President of the Republic, he reminds him, on the set of France 5’s “C Politique”, that the second round of the presidential elections in May 2022 was a particularly good one.
“The CFDT said the night of the first round that we had to vote for Emmanuel Macron because Marine Le Pen was opposite. This is the second time we’ve done it,” explains Laurent Berger.
“I am aware that this vow obliges me”
In fact, on the night of the second round of the presidential elections, shortly after the announcement of his victory, Emanuel Macron had addressed many French people who, like Laurent Berger, “blocked” the extreme right.
“I am aware that this vote binds me for the coming years,” said Emmanuel Macron. In particular, he praised “his sense of duty” and “his attachment to the Republic” and said he was “custodian (…) of respect for the differences that have manifested themselves in recent weeks.”
Berger asks the government for “responsibility”
Words put back on the agenda by the leader of the CFDT, who opposes the pension reform and calls for the “responsibility” of the government. “We cannot pass the text on pensions in this social climate in a retracted manner,” he said.
Laurent Berger has already warned several times since the beginning of the social movement that he will oppose the pension reform until the end. “It should be clear, even with positive measures on long careers or hardship, we remain opposed to reform with an age measure. There will be no deal with the CFDT,” he declared in early January.
