Schools, refineries, transportation: who will strike this Tuesday, January 31?

Traffic will be very disrupted on the SNCF and on public transport this Tuesday, January 31. Schools, refineries and stations will also be affected.

Trains, refineries, town halls. The unions have called a strike in many sectors for the second day of interprofessional mobilization this Tuesday, January 31. Summary of expected outages.

• On the train

Meeting the day after the first day of mobilization, the four representative unions of the SNCF (Sud Rail, CGT Cheminots, Unsa Ferroviaire, CFDT Cheminots) called on the railway workers to mobilize widely on Tuesday, January 31. A call that followed: only one in three TGVs (Inoui and Ouigo) will circulate that day, the same for one in ten TER in the regions and one in ten Transilien in Île-de-France. • In transport

Urban public transport will not be saved. In Île-de-France, the RATP unions (CGT, FO, UNSA and CFE-CGC) have called a strike: several metro lines will be partially closed or will only work during peak hours and, on the RER A side and B, it will be necessary to count one train out of two, as detailed here by BFM Paris. Traffic will also be disrupted in other major cities, such as Lyon (find the traffic forecast for Lyon here).

• At airports

Some unions, especially those of air traffic controllers, have called for mobilization in air transport. The General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC) has already asked airlines to preventively cancel one in five flights at the Paris Orly airport this Tuesday, January 31. But the unrest could be more widespread, as strike calls have also been launched within airlines, particularly at Air France.

• In the town halls

The town halls have also decided to symbolically close their doors on Tuesday, January 31. In Paris, Anne Hidalgo announced the closure of the city announcement. Other cities, more or less large, will also follow the movement, such as Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis).

• In energy

In the energy sector, which has multiplied actions in recent days, the unions expect a mobilization of the magnitude of the one on January 19. The CGT Petróleo, in the refineries, requests in particular flow reductions and delivery blockades. In electricity, the highly criticized selective cuts have, however, been abandoned in favor of more “positive” actions, such as switching to off-peak hours.

• To school

The movement should also be widely followed in schools: the unions for National Education and secondary school students called for a strike in a joint press release, hoping to mobilize more forcefully than on the first day of the mobilization – the day of 19 of January had been very followed- by teachers and professors. The universities should also be concerned, as well as the municipal nurseries for the little ones.

• In ski resorts

On the mountain, skiers will sometimes have to wait at the bottom of the slopes. The two main ski lift employees unions (Force Ouvrière and CGT) have submitted strike notices for January 31st. Some lifts will be closed in the ski areas.
