Hynamics, low carbon hydrogen for industry and mobility

A subsidiary of the EDF group, Hynamics produces and markets renewable, low-carbon hydrogen for the industry and mobility sectors.

According to a McKinsey report, hydrogen consumption will account for 18% of the world’s final energy demand in 2050. Since 90% of hydrogen is currently produced from fossil fuels, the consequences of such prospects would be a real environmental disaster. It is based on this observation that the EDF group decided, in 2019, to create Hynamics, a new subsidiary in charge of offering a low carbon and/or renewable hydrogen offer and aimed at the two sectors with the highest CO2 emissions. in France: industry and mobility. It is through the electrolysis of water, a technology that does not emit greenhouse gases when the electricity used in the process is low-carbon or renewable, that the EDF subsidiary produces its hydrogen.

Hynamics present throughout the value chain

Active throughout the European market and particularly in France, the United Kingdom and Germany, Hynamics’ main mission is to support manufacturers and territories by supporting their decarbonisation projects. Thus, Hynamics is present throughout the life of the project, from development to maintenance, including the construction of structures. “We are operator maintainers, which means having the ability to monitor production assets anywhere in the world and being able to deploy teams on site to perform preventive or corrective maintenance,” explains Christelle Rouillé, General Manager of the subsidiary. .

A key factor in the ecological transition, the production of hydrogen without CO2 emissions represents a vector for the future, capable of responding to the decarbonisation of industry and the economy in general. If Hynamics’ ambition is to continue developing its activity, it also wants to develop more clearly internationally. “This involves finding ways to be more competitive in the production of this electrolytic hydrogen, but also to be able to transport it” concludes Christelle Rouille.
