The Lidl brand will launch its anti-inflation basket with “about fifty products” from day to day

Michel Biero, executive director of purchasing and marketing for Lidl France, responded to the call from the government, which wants to set up a basket of everyday products at cost price starting March 1.

An idea promoted by the government and already launched by some distributors. Minister Olivia Grégoire announced an anti-inflation basket to offset the drop in the purchasing power of French households for several months. A proposal made to large retailers and that would come into force on March 1 to “guarantee that the French can have, in a daily basket, attractive prices,” the minister in Europe 1 detailed this Monday.

“There will be organic in our basket”

The executive director of the cartel specified that “about fifty products” will make up this basket.

The Système U brand launched its anti-inflation basket of 150 products “at cost price” this Wednesday, February 1.
