Retirement pensions will increase by 0.8% on February 9

After the automatic revaluation of 4% in mid-2022, the retirement pensions for January that will be paid this Thursday, February 9, will increase by 0.8%.

As expected, the more than 14 million French retirees will receive a slightly increased pension this Thursday, February 9.

In accordance with the Social Security financing bill enacted at the end of 2022, the basic retirement and survivor pensions were increased by 0.8% on January 1.

However, since the pensions are paid on the 9th of the month following the corresponding month, the revaluation of 0.8% will become effective when the January pension is paid on Thursday, February 9.

4.8% revaluation

This increase corresponds to the traditional revaluation that occurs at the beginning of each year. Its magnitude corresponds to the difference between the annual average of the non-tobacco consumer price index for the last twelve known months (from November 2021 to October 2022 in this case) and the average value of inflation for the previous twelve months ( November 2020). to October 2021 here).

With this formula, the expected revaluation was 4.8%. However, the government has decided to anticipate its implementation with an initial boost of 4% from July 2022 to help retirees cope with inflation. Hence the additional revaluation of 0.8% at the beginning of 2023.
