How LVMH plans to reduce its energy consumption by 10%

In BFM Business, Hélène Valade, director of environmental development for the luxury group, details the levers that will be activated to reduce LVMH’s energy consumption.

In terms of energetic sobriety, LVMH is a good student. While Emmanuel Macron set in July a target of 10% reduction in energy consumption in France by 2024, the luxury group claims that this target will be achieved in one year (October 2023).

“We are faced with exceptional situations so we had to be present immediately,” explains Hélène Valade, director of environmental development for the luxury group, on the set of Good Morning Business this Friday.

“In addition, we will increase the temperature at which the air conditioning is activated” and the group will also lower the interior temperature by one degree in winter in all its industrial estates, administrative headquarters and shops. These measures will first be applied in France before being applied internationally.

LVMH will also encourage its employees to use the EcoWatt app, which allows them to keep up to date with electricity consumption region by region. “We are going to carry out a campaign of energy gestures in offices, shops and EcoWatt will be part of those gestures to be able to manage consumption peaks. That is the most important issue.”

Indeed, the problem is not so much to reduce consumption throughout the day but to smooth it out according to these consumption peaks that can generate tensions in the network.
