Prime Minister António Costa pointed out that new social benefits for families with children will be paid this Friday to deal with the effects of rising inflation, measures he considered structuring.
These references to the program of social measures adopted by the executive earlier this month are in a text the prime minister posted on his Twitter account.
“The new social security benefits for families with children are starting to be paid today. With the Child Guarantee, the increase in child benefits and the updating of the levels, we are increasing family income and protecting children at risk of extreme poverty”wrote Antonio Costa.
In his message, the executive branch believes that “these are structuring measures that, together with the creation of new places in daycare centers and their gradual free expansion, reflect the government’s commitment to social policies in support of children” .
This Friday morning, in a plenary session, the General Assembly of the Republic debated and voted on the government’s proposal that will determine the rent update coefficient for 2023, create extraordinary support for rents, reduce VAT on electricity supply and establish a transitional arrangement for the pension update.
In addition to the bill of the executive branch, the parliament also debates and votes on diplomas from the Bloco de Esquerda, PAN, Chega and Iniciativa Liberal on measures to combat inflation in housing, excessive profits in the energy sector, incentives for public transport, VAT on gas and electricity and purchase of very energy-efficient equipment.
