The periodic reassessment of annual income removed child support for nearly 70,000 children and youth in January, according to a statistical review by the Department of Labor.
“Child benefit for children and youth included 1,052,458 holders in January 2023. In the month under review, due to the periodic reassessment of the annual income, there was a decrease of 6.2% compared to the previous month (69 minus 942 holders),” according to the explanation in the same document.
Compared to the same month, January 2022, data from the Ministry’s Strategy and Planning Office indicate that there was an increase of 17,297 children and young people on child benefit (another 1.7%).
The document also states that the number of disability bonus holders was 78,101 in January this year, representing a decrease of 8.5% compared to the previous month and 13.6% year-on-year.
The grant for third party assistance was processed to 12,425 beneficiaries, which translates into a decrease of 1.4% (min 182 holders) compared to the previous month and 2.2% (min 285 holders) compared to the same period last year .
As for the social benefit for inclusion, the statistics now released also indicate that this support was processed to 136,057 persons in January, a month in which “the number of beneficiaries of this social benefit continued to grow”.
“The figures show an increase of 2.8% compared to the previous month (3718 more beneficiaries). In the variation with the same period, there was an increase of 14534 beneficiaries, which corresponds to a growth of 12%,” continues the statistical synthesis.
