Heineken said on Wednesday that it wanted to withdraw from Russia this year. The brewer’s announcement follows a Dutch media article that reported that the brand is continuing its activities there, despite its March 2022 pledge to leave the country due to Moscow’s military offensive against Ukraine.
Heineken, in particular, continues to sell its international brands like Amstel and has launched new products, according to research site Follow The Money.
A depreciation of 300 million euros
The group said it expects a 300 million euro writedown on the business in Russia when it is sold, probably in the first half of 2023.
“There is no exchange of funds between Heineken and our local business in Russia, and we receive no dividends or royalties,” the brewer added.
