Accused by dealers of demanding unjustified price increases in the context of trade negotiations, manufacturers are fighting back. Invited this Monday at BFM Business, the general manager of Danone, Antoine de Saint-Affrique, assured that the requests for “price increases are justified by increases in raw materials, increases in electricity, increases in milk prices” .
“These are extremely factual negotiations. We have absorbed a very large part of inflation thanks to productivity, we are also very careful to protect the income of farmers. So we are trying to find a solution that is balanced and that goes in that direction. that our discussions are going”, also defended the head of Danone.
Increases “about 10% instead of 40”
Responding to Lidl boss Michel Biero, who claimed to receive requests for increases of between 10 and 40%, Antoine de Saint-Affrique said it was “difficult to speak on average” but that Danone’s claims were “quite above of the last 12 months” in increases “around 10% than around 40%”.
The manager acknowledged, however, the tense relations with the distributors, two days before the end of the commercial negotiations: “The negotiations are underway, more advanced with some, less with others.”
